Cherry Pecan Swirl Cake

 Recipe Variations: Substitute blueberry or strawberry pie filling for cherry.
Ingredients
  • 1 (18.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup pecans (chopped fine)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 (8-ounce) container whipped topping

Cherry Pecan Swirl Cake
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the pecans and sugar. Set aside.
  3. Mix cake mix according to package directions using the water, oil and eggs. Pour into prepared 9 X 13 inch cake pan. Spread evenly.
  4. Drop cherry pie filling on top by spoonfuls, then drop pecans and sugar mixture on top by spoonfuls. Swirl cherry pie filling and pecans/sugar mixture through the cake with a knife. Do not mix too much. You want the swirled effect.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
  6. Cool completely.
  7. Top with whipped topping and chill at least 2 hours before serving.
  8. Store leftovers in refrigerator.
